About Ruthie Reichman

Ruthie Reichman is a Los Angeles-based costume designer.  She has a dual Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Theatre Arts from Earlham College, where her passion for storytelling through costume design first took root.  In June 2025, Ruthie will earn her Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design from UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television.

Being equal parts artist and scientist, Ruthie brings to every project her love of innovation, her extensive design and construction skills, as well as her scientist’s attention to detail and deep curiosity.

As an M.F.A. candidate, Ruthie designed for both screen and stage, including multiple short films, a feature film, and two main-stage productions.  Her first main-stage production was an original play featuring live actors and unique puppetry for the New Play Festival.  Her second main-stage production was a high-tech collaborative revival of Xanadu featuring live and digital actors, augmented reality with motion capture, and roller skates, produced by REMAP – UCLA’s Center for Research in Engineering, Media and Performance – in conjunction with Disney Live Entertainment and Industrial Light & Magic.

While at UCLA, Ruthie received many honors, including multiple Regent's Stipends, the Fine Arts Trust Award, the JoAnne Stolaroff Cotsen Award for Costume Design, the UCLA Alumni Award for Excellence in Costume Design, and, most recently, the Fred Hayman Fellowship in Costume Design.
